Obituary of George B Ambrose

George Bernard Ambrose, 87, of Haverstraw NY passed away on March 30, 2018. He was born on January 13, 1931 in Ireland to Robert & Mary (Cotter) Ambrose. George married the love of his life Teresa Young in 1956. They moved from the Bronx to Haverstraw, NY in1965. George proudly served his country in the US Army. George was a Korean War Veteran. He had worked for the Telephone Company before he joined the NYPD from where he retired from. George was one of the first members of the NYPD Emerald Society Pipe and Drum Band as a drummer. He loved spending time with his family. George is predeceased by his parents, his sister Patricia Johnston and brother Daniel Ambrose. He is survived by his loving wife Teresa, his beloved children Mary West (Leo), Eileen Brischoux (Phil), Denise Mastroianni, Robert Ambrose(Laura) Teresa Geberth(Vernon) his adored 15 Grandchildren and his cherished 9 great grandchildren . Also surviving are his siblings Sr. Jane Frances Ambrose & Johanna Mertz (Robert) step-brother Maurice Howard and his many loving nieces & nephews. The family will receive friends & relatives on Wednesday April 4 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home 71 N. Central Highway Garnerville, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for George on Thurs April 5th at 11 AM in St Peters Church in Haverstraw with Interment to follow in St. Peters Cemetery.
