Obituary of Annie Coyle
Annie (Reynolds) Coyle of Garnerville, NY passed away peacefully at home October 19, 2019. Annie was born in Aughavas in Lovely Leitrim, Ireland to Michael and Maria (Kiernan) Reynolds on March 21, 1938. Annie immigrated to New York in 1957 and met the love of her life, Ed Coyle at Gaelic Park in the Bronx, NY. They married October 24, 1959 at St. John’s in Kingsbridge. They moved to Garnerville, NY in October, 1960. Annie worked for Haverstraw Transit and then became an LPN at Helen Hayes Hospital. Anne will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to spend time with her family in the Catskills and LBI, and she especially enjoyed her trips back home to Ireland. She had a passion for gardening, Irish set dancing and playing cards. She also spent time camping, reading, crocheting and always had a project in the works. Annie’s motto in life was “To Rest is to Rust!” She was a proud member of Division 1 Rockland AOH and the Irish Cultural Center as well as being a Treasurer of the Rockland County Feis for many years.
Annie is survived by five children: her son John and wife Allison of Suffern, NY, daughter Rosemary and husband Matt Van Der Meulen of Chester, NY, daughter Patricia and husband John Fay of Cornwall, NY, daughter Anne and husband Doug Frye of Marshfield, MA, and son Eddie and wife Beth of Pearl River, NY. She treasured time spent with her grandchildren Caitlin, Mariah, Maura, Michael, Deirdre, Austin, Olivia, Megan, Kelly, Will, Eddie and Aidan. Annie is predeceased by her husband Ed of 48 years and her granddaughter Bridgette Frye.
Friends may visit on Tuesday, October 22, at T.J. McGowan Sons Funeral Home, 71 North Central Highway, Garnerville from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Gregory Barbarigo Church, Garnerville, NY at 10:30 AM Wednesday, October 23. Burial to follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Haverstraw, NY.
In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made in Annie’s memory to: United Hospice of Rockland, 11 Stokum Ln, New City, NY and Tunnels to Towers, 2361 Hylan Blvd, Staten Island, NY.
