Obituary of Luis Manuel Rivera

Luis Manuel Rivera, 81, of Cumming, GA passed away Thursday, November 7, 2019.
Born on January 28, 1938 in Ciales, Puerto Rico to Carlos Rivera and Mercedes Aponte Rivera.
Also known as GRANDPA, he had more energy than most! Sit out a dance or miss a party? Not Grandpa! His positive energy and vibe attracted so many people, and let’s not mention all the stories he had. Always happy and go-lucky, Grandpa was a hardworking, disciplined man. He was fun-loving and forever full of life. Above all, he loved his family.
Preceded by the love of his life Elba, also known as “HONEY” or “BOSS”. Survivors include his three “prized possessions”, his daughter and son-in-law, Glenda and Abelsain Santiago of Cumming Georgia; sons and daughters-in-law, Luis Carlos and Christine Rivera of Rock Tavern, NY and Ricardo Manuel and Kathleen Rivera of Manorville, NY. Luis is also survived by eight grandchildren: Damian, Christopher, Cassandra, Samuel, Lauren, Caitlyn, Sabrina, and Sophia; and three great grandchildren: Mia, Jake and Damian, Jr. In addition to his children and grandchildren, Luis leaves behind brother, Miguel of Radcliffe, Kentucky; sister, Maria Rivera of Stony Point, NY; Mother-In-Law, Maria Figueroa of Haverstraw, NY and many beloved nieces and nephews. Luis will be missed and will forever live in our hearts.
The family will receive friends at T.J. MCGOWAN SONS FUNERAL HOME, 133 Broadway, Haverstraw, NY on Wednesday, November 13 from 6-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Luis on Thursday, November 14 at 10 AM at St. Peter's & St. Mary's Church in Haverstraw, with interment to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, Haverstraw.
