Obituary of Marion Lynch

Marion Lynch, 94, of New Paltz, NY (formerly of Congers) passed away peacefully in the presence of her loving family on Thursday, December 26th. Marion was born to the late Edward and Claire Jansky of Rockland Lake, NY.

Marion grew up in Rockland Lake, NY. She graduated from Congers High School. She met and married her husband of 60 years, Bernard Lynch. Sr, who predeceased her. They settled in Haverstraw, until they built their own home in Congers, NY. Where they raised 7 children.

Marion was an entrepreneur, In the early 1950’s she was the first female owner/operator of a taxi cab company in the State of New York. She ran her business in Congers, NY, known as Lynch’s Taxi. Marion then moved on to her new business of a school bus company owner/operator called Marion E. Lynch, Inc. Here she dedicated her services to disabled children. She then retired in 1983. At which time her and her husband retired to the Catskills in Upstate New York. Later in life they moved to New Paltz to be closer to family.

Marion loved being part of her senior citizen clubs. She enjoyed the many trips they took to casino’s and luncheons. Her favorite activity with them was Bingo. Marion had a passion for Puzzles, books, and crosswords. Marion was sharp as a tack and wealth of information. She enjoyed sharing her knowledge of Rockland County.

Marion is predeceased by her parents, Husband Bernard Lynch, Sr. and her brothers Edward and Frank Jansky. She is survived by her loving children, Sandy Adelson, Patt McRory, Maureen Lynch, Bernard Lynch, Jr. (wife Linda), Edward Lynch, Kevin Lynch, Richard Lynch (wife Karen). Grandchildren Richard (wife Lizzy), and Dylan. Her sister-in-law Irene Jansky.

The family will be receiving friends and relatives at T.J. McGowan Sons Funeral Home, 133 Broadway, Haverstraw, NY on Sunday, December 29 between the hours of 2pm till 7pm. Marion will be laid to rest at Mt. Repose Cemetery in Haverstraw on Monday, December 30 at 1pm.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Hospice or St. Jude’s children’s hospital.
