Obituary of Delia Padron

Delia Padron, a resident of Garnerville, New York, passed peacefully on April 13, 2020. She was 82. She was born on August 2, 1937, in Matanzas, Cuba, to Luis Sanchez (predeceased) and Maria Teresa Diestro (predeceased). She was one of four children: brother Luis Sanchez (predeceased), sister Berta Sanchez (predeceased), brother Gustavo Sanchez (predeceased), and sister Magdalena De la Concepcion Sanchez. In 1958, she married Julio Perfecto Padron Lopez (predeceased), with whom she had three children: Julio (wife Carol) Padron, Omar (wife Aida) Padron, and Miguel (wife Maria) Padron. She is survived by her children and her grandchildren, Julia, Michael, Isabella, Andrew, and Annalise. Delia, together with her husband and children immigrated to the United States in 1971, and had lived in both Florida and New York. She worked in Hudson View Nursing Home in Yonkers, New York, as a nurse’s aide for many years until her retirement. She enjoyed caring for others and was given the nickname “Mama Padron” by patients and co-workers. She was a tireless, dedicated worker, putting her three children through college after her husband’s passing in 1989. After her retirement, she helped care for her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy. Throughout her life, she gave effortlessly and generously to her family and friends, always with great charm and a warm sense of humor. Delia was a strong, kind, selfless, and honorable woman, truly one of a kind. She happily lived her life to care for her family and will be dearly missed. Arrangements have been made through T.J. McGowan Sons Funeral Home in Garnerville, New York. There will be a private burial and a Memorial Mass is anticipated to be held in the future. Please contact the family for forthcoming details.
