Obituary of Giuseppe "Joe" Sottovia

Giuseppe “Joe” Sottovia, a resident of Garnerville, NY passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, October 23rd, 2020. He was born in St. Lorenzo, Trento, Italy on June 4, 1934 to Onarino (Bosetti) and Ignatzio Sottovia. He was married to the love of his life, Rita (Ghirardi) on September 8th, 1956 at St. John’s Episcopal Church in New York City. Joe was the owner of Rockland Tile until his retirement. Joe was an avid golfer and a true gentleman. He loved spending time with his family. He was predeceased by his four brothers Antonio, Ervi, Silvio, Giulio, his sister Sara, his son Steven and grandson Ryan Ashford. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Rita, his daughter Susan Ashford, granddaughter Jessica (Tim) along with his great-grandchildren Evelyn, Gavin, and Liam, who brought so much love and laughter to everyone. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 29th, 2020 from 5:00pm-9:00pm at TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home, 71 N. Central Highway, Garnerville, NY. Masks and social distancing required and rotation is in effect. A prayer service will be held at 6:00pm at the funeral home.
