William A. Gillespie January 18, 1932 - October 2, 2021 William A. Gillespie (Bill) long time resident of West Haverstraw, NY was born January 18, 1932 in Manhattan, NY to Peter and Ruth Gillespie passed peacefully on Saturday October 2, 2021 at his home surrounded by loved ones. Survived by his loving wife Nancy Reid Gillespie. Dad to his children, JoAnn Hall (Brooks), William & Patricia Gillespie, Thomas & Maureen Gillespie and Robert and Janemarie Gillespie. Poppy to his Grandchildren, Cheryl & Steven Birnbryer, Lori & Arnold Banker, Kerri-Ann & Stephen Provel, Casey Gillespie, Brooks & Alison Hall, Robert & Lenore Gillespie, Breanne & Joseph Felice, Brittany & James Caporiccio, Dylan & Kevin McFadden, and James Gillespie. As well as 11 great grandchildren and 3 great - great grandchildren. Sisters Joan Purcell and Patsy Kloper and sister in law Helen Gillespie. Predeceased by his brother Mickey Gillespie, son in law Brooks Hall and brother in laws Patrick Purcell and Herbie Kloper. William was a veteran of the United States Army, Retired from The exzNew York Times at 65 and was a long time active member at the Haverstraw Elks Lodge #877. William loved to travel with his wife, family and friends. After retirement Bill and Nancy would spend winters at their other home in West Palm Beach, Florida. He also loved his NY Yankees, Giants and rangers and his fur baby his best girl Missy. William took great pride in family, home and life. He was blessed with love and will be deeply missed. Services to be held Thursday October 7, 2021 2-4 and 6-8 at McGowans funeral home , Garnerville, NY and funeral mass to be held Friday October 8, 2021 at 10Am St. Peters church in Haverstraw, NY.
