Obituary of Marie P. Muntz

Marie Patricia Muntz, née Prestipino, departed this life surrounded by family at her home on January 14, 2022, at the age of 80. She was born on December 15, 1941, to Mary (San Filippo) and Michele V. Prestipino. Marie graduated from Ladycliff Academy, St. Thomas Aquinas College, and Long Island University with a master’s degree in library science. She was employed as a Library Media Specialist in the East Ramapo Central School District as well as having worked as a public librarian at the Rose Memorial and the Haverstraw Kings Daughters Libraries. Marie was a cat lover, avid reader, grammarian, and an anglophile who loved to travel and challenge herself with a daily dose of Jeopardy. She treasured her annual trips to Long Beach Island. Marie, who swore she was not a Muggle, channeled her artistic talents through painting, crochet, and sewing. Marie’s sixties activism led her to become “Another Mother for Peace” and she loved to tell stories about her experiences at Woodstock. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Jamie and Stephen Fodor, her cherished granddaughter, Katja Fodor, and her nephews, Donald W. Owens and Michael V. Owens. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Jacques D. Muntz, her parents, and her sister, Susan (Prestipino) Brennan. A graveside service will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to United Hospice of Rockland. To quote one of Marie’s favorites, Monty Python’s Flying Circus, “She is no more”.
