Obituary of Santa "Doris" Genosa

Doris Genosa (nee Raia) drifted peacefully away on August 27, 2022.  Doris was born in Harlem, NY on July 20, 1934 to Grace and Andrew Raia.  She married her “knight in shining armor” Angelo Genosa in September 1955 and was married for 32 years. Angelo passed away suddenly in 1987. 

Doris graduated college in NYC and was a legal secretary for most of her life. She was employed at Blumenfeld & Kaplan for many years and retired. She and Angelo enjoyed vacationing and especially enjoyed their trip to Italy. They enjoyed life with their children and parties with family and friends.  Doris was a fun loving mom, grandma, sister, aunt and friend to many.  She loved family get-togethers, loved to dance, watch movies, see plays, do crafts, paint, knit, slot machines, she was a happy person always singing and enjoying life. She cherished her family and friends and the time she spent with her best friend Rose.  She is survived by daughter Regina Cino & husband Jack Cino, grandchildren Angela & Jack Cino III, daughter Jennifer &  her partner Joan Carson. Brother Frank & his wife Carol, niece Christine & her husband David White.  Also survived by multiple nieces/nephews, Bill & Karen Genosa & children, Tony & his husband Bob, Joe & his wife Christine Genosa & children. Eddie Raia, Diane Raia-Pope, Sandy Raia-Karp and all of their children. She was predeceased by her Brother Eddie, wife Louise & 2nd wife Tina, brother-in-law Sal & Nita and her in-laws Anthony and Maria Genosa.  

After Angelo’s passing, Doris met Vic Lella who was her loving companion until his passing in early 2022. Vic and Doris enjoyed their winter retreat at their place in Florida and also loved dining out and dancing. 

Viewing hours will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 from 4pm-8pm at T.J. McGowan Sons Funeral Home, 71 N. Central Highway, Garnerville, NY.  Mass will be held at 11am on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at Saint Gregory Barbarigo Church, Cinder Road, Garnerville, NY.  Burial immediately to follow at Saint Peters Cemetery, Haverstraw, NY.
