Obituary of Theresa Considine

Theresa Considine passed away quietly in her sleep on May 2, 2024. She was 88 years old.

Theresa (Terry as everyone knew her) was born on July 29th, 1935, to her parents Eleanor and Michael in the borough of Manhattan, in New York City.  Eventually the family, including her brothers Michael and Wilfred settled in The Bronx.  Terrywent to James Monroe HS and excelled academically. During this time, she met her husband to be Thomas Considine.  After graduation Terry worked for an International Bank in midtown where, as she told us all later, she would see and say hello to General Douglas McArthur.

In 1957 she married Tom and the young couple moved to the University Heights section of The Bronx, on Evelyn Place. The family grew over the years adding Tom, Chris, and John between 1958 and 1965. Terry stayed home to raise her childrenand did so to great effect. In 1968, the family picked up and moved to West Haverstraw in Rockland County, NY., settling inSamsondale, where it was always interesting.  Terry worked at managing the home, keeping the boys in line, and dealing with a crazy dog named Buddy, his charming partner Miss and their successor Buddy Jr.. It was a fun time.

Terry hosted team breakfasts before football games, helped with homework, went to games, catered Friday night “Bobby Hull Hockey” Tournaments and yet somehow managed to keep everything on an even keel (more or less). She eventually went back into the workforce at Helen Hayes Rehabilitation Hospital where she had a long and successful career, retiring as a supervisor.

As the boys grew up and then out, Terry and Tom had more time to enjoy themselves.  They loved to travel, especially to Cape Cod, but also to other destinations. They travelled to Ireland with her son Chris and his wife Karen, and they would also visit cities such as New Orleans and San Francisco – coincidentally, as luck would have it, usually at the same time the New York Giants happened to be playing a game there.  While Terry was not a big football fan, she enjoyed the travel and visiting new places.

Terry was a devout parishioner of St. Gregory Barbarigo Parish and a proud member of the Red Hats and the Haverstraw Seniors where she spent many happy times with both organizations.

Terry welcomed new members to the family over the years and is survived by her children and their spouses, Thomas and Lu-Anne, Chris and Karen, and John and Jeanette.  Terry was a wonderful grandma to Kaelyn Considine, Kerin Faust (Joe), Colleen Smith (Clayton) Timothy Considine (Julia), Kevin Considine, Elizabeth Considine, Maya Considine and Kay Considine. They all brought joy to Grandma. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed every moment with them. In her later years she welcomed three great grandchildren Joey Faust, and Nolan and Lucy Smith.

Terry led a good and long life, and she was loved by her family and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents Eleanor and Michael, her brothers Michael and Wilford, her beloved husband Thomas, and her grandson Thomas John Considine.
